He’s So Narrow Minded…
…that he can look through a keyhole with both eyes. Now THAT’S narrow minded.
I bet you know someone like that. I do…I’ve been putting up with narrow minded folks since I was in the Navy.
Take Larry Cason for a minute.
Senior Chief Cason was a short, semi-balding Napoleon. Matter-of-fact, I think they would’ve called it the Cason Complex if the problem hadn’t already been discovered by Napoleon’s time. You know the type: they’re physically short and to make up for being physically short, they tend to be controlling, bossy, always right, have an opinion on just about everything under the sun, always knows best…get the picture?
Kinda like my theory about guys who drive large pickup trucks…but that’s another story.
Right about now, there’s one of two things at work in your mind.
Either you’re thinking of someone that YOU know that sounds like this,
OR
You’re someone with a Napoleon Complex and you can’t imagine that this blog might be about your type.
Unfortunately, people (mostly men, statistically) with this Complex don’t recognize it in themselves…they always feel it’s something that affects someone else.
So why bring this up today? I’ve had Larry Cason and people like him on my mind the past few days. I kinda feel sorry for them. It must be a helluva burden to have to be always right. But more than feeling sorry for them, I think we’re called by Jesus to love them.
They can’t help that they have their heads up their butts! But like my buddy Clarencce (Jordan) always said, “if you can’t outlove them, outlive them. I plan on still being able to kick up my heels long after the Larry Casons in my life are gone.
According to WebMD, one out of three men have the Napoleon Complex. Here’s an idea. Take a look around you at lunch today. If the two guys setting at the table with you don’t have it…guess what!
Note 1: Today is Day one of an eight week effort to quit smoking. Yah, after what seems like a hundred plus years of smoking two packs a day, I’m quitting. So if you’ve got any guys around with a Napoleon Complex that’s bugging you, let me know…I’m in the mood to hurt something.
