Just finished lunch and got back to the office to check my email before the infamous products season continues. Got the usual stuff in my inbox. Some spam…some emails from friends and one kinda good one.

I heard something tonight that I’ve never heard before. Now since I’m 50+, there’s not much I haven’t heard. But tonight I heard a really strange sound.
My screen door slammed.
If you’ve been reading this blog for long, and the stats show that over 17,500 people have been, you know that the screen door to The Mancave has been broken since I moved in. I’ve had critters of all shapes, sizes and breeds come wandering in day and night.
No more! Tonight I heard my screen door slam shut.
Now why is that a big deal? I guess to most of the folks reading this, it wouldn’t be. But here in community, it is kinda special — to me at least.
Somone, I don’t know who, took the time on a Saturday to fix my screen door. They didn’t do it for money… they didn’t do it for recognition…they just saw I had a need and they met it. Community is kinda like that. With all the personalities around here…with all the organized chaos that happens…someone took the time to fix my screen door.
What they did for me speaks louder than any number of sermons I’ve heard in my life. And the sermon I heard in the midst of my screen door slamming was: “Love your neighbor as yourself”.
Catch ya later — I’ve gotta pass it on and find someone else who needs a screen door fixed.
