OccupyDC — As I See It. Idiot Lights

I keep hearing comments from people who want to know what’s the “agenda” of the Occupy movement. What is it the occupiers want? What are their goals? It’s a good question and I think I might have come up with an answer.

Nothing. They don’t want a thing.

Then why are they so willing to brave the weather, the cops and misunderstandings from friends and families?

I think they’re idiot lights. No, now before you think I said something that I didn’t, go back and read that again. I didn’t say they’re idiots…I said they’re idiot lights.

An “idiot light” is that little light that comes on in your instrument panel to tell you that you need to check the engine or put in some oil. That light doesn’t solve the problem for you. That little light doesn’t put the oil in the motor…it just tells you that you’re heading towards trouble and if you don’t correct the situation right away – well – you’re in for some big challenges.

That’s why I call the occupation movement an idiot light. The people living in the parks are NOT here to solve the problem. They’re here to tell the rest of us that there’s “no oil in the motor” and if we don’t correct soon, well, we’re heading towards bigger trouble.
